Drive Fitness Test (version 3.01)
The Drive Fitness Test (DFT) provides a quick, reliable method to test IBM SCSI and IDE hard disk drives. The Drive Fitness Test analyze function performs read tests without overwriting customer data. (However, Drive Fitness Test is bundled with some restoration utilities that will overwrite data). The users guide PDF covers how to use Drive Fitness Test and the included utilities.

Additional Documentation: PDF Users guide | White paper | Data sheet

Features:
Supports SCSI and IDE drives
Note:
Currently, the Drive Fitness Test does not support IBM Microdrives or Travelstar E drives.

Analyzes drive fitness
  • Three modes of operation:
-- High confidence level Quick test (unmatched in the drive industry)
    -- Full media scan
    -- Exerciser
  • Performs real-time analysis of IBM drives to quickly determine whether the drive has a problem.
  • Identifies system problems such as cables, temperature, etc.
  • Automatically logs significant drive parameters to track potential impacts to the operation of the drive.
Restores drive fitness
Note: these utilities will overwrite customer data and allow repair of bad sectors.
  • Erase Bootsector utility (use DFT Utility option: Erase Boot Sector)
  • Low-level format utility (use DFT Utility option: Erase Disk)
  • Filesystem-based Corrupted Sector Repair (use DFT Utility option: Corrupted Sector Repair)
Utilities
  • Drive information
  • S.M.A.R.T. Operations for IDE hard disk drives

ASPI-ID v1.5

DOS

A Mode Sense and Inquiry utility for SCSI interface disc drives. Detailed information about each of the mode pages is given along with a SCSI Inquiry report. This program operates through the standard ASPI device driver supplied by the SCSI host adapter manufacturer. This program can tell you more about your SCSI drive and its current operating parameters. Optional save of Mode Sense data to a file for later reference. Very detailed documentation provided.

ASPI Menu v1.16
January, 1998
(542 KB)
This is a MS Windows-based application that uses ASPI to provide a generic interactive command interface to any SCSI hard drive. In addition to providing interactive commands to a SCSI hard drive, this tool provides advanced scripting features for writing functions such as testing or applying updates to SCSI devices. ASPIMENU also has extensive help text relating to SCSI.
WD Bench v1.40
August, 1999
(278 KB)

This is a MS Windows-based application that uses ASPI to provide support and utility functions for Western Digital SCSI hard drives. With this application you can create dump files that contain support and log data, format drives, short stroke drives, copy one drive to another, perform read and write/read qualification testing, generate defect data lists, and convert between logical and physical addressing schemes.

WDScan.exe v1.0
August, 1997
(382 KB)

This is a MS Windows-based application that uses ASPI to provide a graphic representation of peripherals connected to the SCSI architecture. The tool's initial release detects devices, builds the graphic model, and provides a hexadecimal & ASCII dump of the Inquiry data from the devices detected.
